Evolution, Phylogeny and Diversity

The focus of this unit of study is the theory of evolution by natural selection, and how it is the most instrumental process in shaping the biodiversity found on our Earth.   We will also learn about how the biodiversity of the Earth is thought to have evolved, examining scientific evidence that supports the evolution of all life from a common ancestor.   We will learn to derive evolutionary relationships between and among groups of organisms using a wide variety of evidence from several branches of biology.
